On/Off Effects via MIDI

February 17th, 2009

Hi

I added support for On/Off Effects (1/10) via MIDI as stuarticus kindly request… see the MIDI Implementation Chart for more details. Is applied via Control Change 116 and with different values, but is dynamically changed depending the Effect selected.

Only available on the CVS tree of course.

jack midi available

January 5th, 2009

Hi..

I added support for jack midi in rakarrack, only available on the CVS version, carefully with your connections because now alsa-seq and jack midi both are available. Of course you will need a jack version that includes jack midi.

rakarrack with nintendo ds user interface

January 5th, 2009

Douglas McClendon has write a *proof of concept* code to manage rakarrack with a nintendo ds:

Basically you get to map a couple midi parameters to the X and Y touchscreen values, and use the buttons to change presets.

Thanks for this great job.

MIDI Control

November 23rd, 2008

Up to 80 parameters can be controlled via MIDI Control Message right now, here is the complete list.

I’m talking with Rui Nuno ( qtractor author ) …. I hope early we can check all of this in their sequencer, by now … to check that you need to synchronize ardour + sequencer.

Also if you wanna check I suggest one of my old programs mcontrol to write the MIDI control messages, you can send up to 12 different MIDI messages simultaneously on each single controller, (Modulation Wheel, Pitch Bend, AfterTouch …..) you can use a external hardware synthesizer or use the software widgets. Unfortunately IIRC only is packaged for Suse and Fedora. Of course you will need to edit the Control list messages in mcontrol. Sure you will have fun :-)

And for keyboard players mcontrol offers fun …. try to connect your Keyboard to mcontrol IN and send the signal to a synthesizer who accepts MIDI control messages , then assign to the Aftertouch, reverb and some filter parameter, then push hard the keys :-)

Of course …. the MIDI control is only available on rakarrack CVS sources.

Preferences saved for each instance of rakarrack

November 14th, 2008

Hi

Now rakarrack read/save the preferences for each instance of the program, that cause the old preferences are unusuable and you need to reconfigure each new instance you open, but that’s good if you want to use multiples instances of rakarrack for a ardour session for example. You dont need to touch nothing, only open rakarrak’s and then the ardour session.

Changes are commited to the CVS

Bugs Fixed

November 13th, 2008

I fixed the bug that cause excesive CPU usage when rakarrack is used as plugin effect and input signal stops, like when you stop playing ardour, rosegarden etc. Probably not in the best way to solve but here works.

Bugs fixed when rakarrack is used without GUI, now sounds :-)  but you need to change the program via MIDI message before start of course.

I changed maybe all math functions to use the float ones, that reduces some CPU usage … I think … well almost reduces size :-)

I was commit the changes to the CVS, please check.

New Documentation

The Rakarrack Team has a new member José Luis Di Biase, hi made new documentation for the project ready to translate with “tidy” and “po4a” using gettext functions.
